Flight Arrivals at Marseille Airport

Marseille Airport is the gateway to one of France’s most popular tourist destinations, the Provence, where lavender and rosemary scent the air, while sage, thyme and olive oil lend their rich aroma to some of the world’s best loved dishes.

Marseille arrivals might come from all manner of domestic and other European destinations. The airport is served by a number of budget airlines like Easyjet for example and is also linked to European cities via Air France, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Alitalia and Air Europa. Destinations further afield include Casablanca, Marrakesh, Fez, Oran and Tunis. Domestic flight destinations include Paris Orly, Nantes, Toulouse and Lyon.

Onward transport is plentiful – there are no fewer than seven official car rental providers with offices just outside the terminal building. Car hire providers such as Avis and Alamo, Budget and Europcar, Hertz, National and Sixt provide great choice at competitive prices.

Shuttle buses take passengers to Marseille city center, to the Aix TGV, St Tropez at the French Riviera and various other destinations along the Mediterranean coast.

Direct bus services offer onward travel to Digne, Sisteron, Manosque, Aix-en-Provence, Brignoles and Le Luc/Le Cannet, where SNCF onward trains can be caught. Arrivals at Marseille Airport also have a choice of 86 taxis serving Marseille and the surrounding suburbs 24 hours a day via door-to-door services as well as organised tours into the Provence region.

Drivers are multi-lingual, speaking English, Spanish and Italian alongside their native French. Airport taxis accept cash, French cheques as well as major credit cards like Visa, Mastercard or American Express. Taxis can be booked in advance for longer journeys by going online to www.taxis-aeroport.com or by emailing to taxis@taxis-aeroport.com.

The airport has direct train connections with the city of Marseille via the metro light railway network as well as trains to Avignon, Montelimar, Valence, Arles, Nimes and Montpellier. Other train connections, which run from Marseille main train station, take Marseille Airport arrivals to Nice and Cannes, Toulon and St Raphael Valescure.

Arrivals at Marseille Provence Airport can expect to find plenty of shopping and dining facilities for their needs. Halls 1, 3 and 4 have outlets selling anything from newspapers and magazines to jewelry and watches, fashion and everyday groceries. The dining experience is naturally mostly French, with boulangeries like Brioche Dorée and Chefs en Provence providing snacks and fast food cuisine French style in equal measure.

A full business center for business arrivals is located in Hall 4, where conference and meeting rooms, equipment hire and full business services can be obtained. Cashpoints or ATMs are provided in Hall 1 in International Arrivals, Hall 3 in Domestic Arrivals and in Hall 4 at Domestic Departures.

The Marseille Provence Exchange Bureau is open daily from 6.00 am to 8.30 pm and here leisure as well as business travelers can buy or sell foreign currency, purchase or redeem travelers’ cheques, get cash advances via their Visa, Eurocard or Mastercard. It is also possible to buy lottery tickets and scratch cards or use the fax, photocopier and telephones with cards bought at this point. The VAT or tax refund office is also located in this area.

Marseille Provence arrivals who wish to explore the city for a short time before catching an onward flight can avail themselves of the Safe Bag scheme and leave their luggage well guarded for the cost of EUR 15.00 for the first day and EUR 10.00 thereafter. The Safe Bag desk is located in Hall 1 on the ground floor in the International Flights section.

Arrivals at Marseille Provence have a number of hotels to choose from which are close by, among them Ibis Hotel, Etap Hotel and Pullman, offering both value for money accommodation and a certain amount of luxury. Most hotels operate their own shuttle service with a pick-up and drop-off service for guests, however, not all their shuttles are equipped for guests with reduced mobility and passengers should enquire with their chosen hotel what the arrangement is locally.
